Gerrard was a sculptor, ceramicist and Professor at the Slade School of Art. His first wife was the artist Kaff Gerrard, with whom he had a show at Colnaghi's in 1931, often collaborating and hand-carving frames for her paintings. His pupils included Karin Jonzen and Eduardo Paolozzi.
