This quiet Yorkshire river scene is intimate in scale but assured in execution, in the Japanese-influenced woodcut tradition.

Elizabeth Scorer Dickson was a Yorkshire printmaker working in the interwar period, with pieces in the Hartlepool Museums and Heritage Service. Woodcut print-making in Britain was a practice which offered women in particular a chance to earn their living in the world of book illustration and advertising.
